Our Why

Our home was christened "Her Turn" to empower women who have sacrificed pieces of themselves in the search for love. Here, it is her turn to heal, rediscover her whole self, and hold her mind, body, and soul as her own.

Pieces of a broken chain — the pieces of themselves women sacrifice, and reclaim

From our founder

Debra, Co-Owner/Director

As someone who has experienced the devastating effects of drugs and alcohol first-hand, I know all too well the toll that addiction can take on a person's life. I've seen it in the lives of my loved ones, and I've felt it in my own life.

My journey to buying a sober living home began with a personal tragedy: the loss of my grandson to a fentanyl overdose. His death was a wake-up call for me. It made me realize that there is no such thing as someone being a recreational user. Death can happen to anyone who abuses drugs or alcohol, regardless of whether they are a dabbler or are deep into their addiction, regardless of their background or circumstances. I knew I had to take action to prevent others from experiencing the same pain and loss that my family has gone through and still hurt deeply from.

If you're looking for a way to make a positive impact in the lives of others, consider supporting a sober living home or other addiction recovery resource. Together, we can make a difference.
